Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Strath Steps web application, operated by the University of Strathclyde Sport department. As a public sector body, the University is committed to making its digital services accessible in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which broadly require conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Compliance status

Strath Steps is in the process of a formal accessibility review against WCAG 2.1 AA. This statement will be updated once that review is complete. In the meantime, we have taken the following steps:

• Colour contrast has been considered in the visual design, though not yet formally audited against WCAG AA contrast ratios
• The application is built with semantic HTML elements where practical
• Interactive elements are operable via keyboard in most areas of the application, though this has not yet been comprehensively tested
• Form fields include visible labels

Known limitations

We know some parts of Strath Steps are not yet fully accessible. In particular:

• Some interactive charts and progress visualisations (for example, on the dashboard and Glen Restoration pages) do not currently provide an equivalent text-based alternative for screen reader users
• Screen reader compatibility has not been formally tested across the application
• Colour is used in some places (such as leaderboard rank indicators) without an additional non-colour cue
• Some custom interactive elements may not yet have full keyboard focus indicators

We are working to address these issues as part of an ongoing accessibility improvement process.

Enforcement procedure

If you are not happy with our response to your accessibility complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). If you live in Scotland, complaints under the accessibility regulations are handled by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
